This Sri Lanka tea is grown 6000 ft above sea level in the central-southern city of Nuwara Eliya. These plants are exposed to harsh, cold winds forcing nutrients to be stored in the leaves. With the first gardens being planted in the early 1800’s the Nuwara Eliya region became the most prominent Ceylon tea region by the end of the century.
