Yixing teapots, known as Zi Sha Hu in China, are among the most iconic teapots in the world. They take their name from the small city of Yixing in Jiangsu Province, where a rare iron-rich clay creates their distinctive coloration and porous texture. Fired without glaze, these teapots are traditionally used to steep specific types of oolong tea. Over time, the unglazed clay absorbs the essence of the tea, gradually seasoning the pot and enhancing the flavor of each subsequent brew. This classic red clay teapot has a 120ml (4 fl oz) capacity, making it ideal for single servings, controlled temperature brewing, and multiple infusions.
Hand wash with hot water and gentle scrubbing only, avoiding soap or detergents to maintain the integrity of the clay.
